This tour is based on the Neapolitan cuisine.
Traditional Neapolitan cooking is very rich and complex, with many simple but complete foods, such as pizza, as well as elaborate and tasty dishes.
The tour starts with the visit of the Monumental area of Naples and the tasting of a typical strong and creamy coffè in the Gambrinus Bar, an historical coffeehouse.
Walking along the crowded and the cheerful Toledo street you’ll see the colourful pastry shops and where you will taste the babà rum, a light, golden, brioche-like sweet bread that is generously soaked in rum syrup and a traditional sfogliatella, a shell-shaped pastry. Sfogliatella means small, thin leaf/layer, as the pastry’s texture resembles stacked leaves.
If you want to experience the real Naples your guide will show you one of the most vibrant outdoor food markets of the city called Pignasecca where everything is very real and you can feel the Neapolitan energy: fresh fish stalls, fishmongers singing all the time, fruit and pizzas sold at the side of the street.
After this first approach to the Neapolitan specialities you’ll reach the historical center of the city, the beating heart of Naples where you’ll taste the best pizza ever had. The traditional local Pizzerias are provided of wood burning brick oven plans that make the pizza unique. Furthermore, you’ll see how pizza makers prepare the famous disc to stuff with mozzarella cheese, tomatoes and basil.
