- Sorrento and Amalfi Coast tour
Get to know the best of the Sorrento and Amalfi Coast. The visit to Sorrento, amongst the most famous summer retreats of the Campanian area, is combined with the panoramic drive along the Amalfi coast.
Sorrento
The driver will pick you up at the agreed location in Naples or Salerno and will transport you to Sorrento which is about 1 hours drive from both cities.
In Sorrento you’ll spend your time at leisure, relaxing, shopping or eating a delicious ice cream! You’ll explore on your own this charming resort and you’ll be amazed by its beauty and its stunning vistas. Very picturesque are the cobbled streets of the old town flanked with little cafes, restaurants and shops selling typical souvenirs or local produce.
Amalfi Coast
After the visit of Sorrento the driver will take you to the Amalfi coast, a beautiful mountainous 40 km (24 mile) long coastline. It is considered Italy’s most romantic road that starts just west of Positano. The Amalfi Coast is spectacular: 500 feet above the sea level, with sharp turns and narrow lanes, especially in the small towns. Along the road that leads to Positano, you’ll enjoy a stunning view of the tiny islands of Li Galli. The islets were once known as Syrenuse, as they were thought to be the home of the Sirens.
Positano
You’ll stop at the Belvedere of Madonnina where the sight of Positano from above will take your breath away. Once a small fishing village, Positano is now a chic seaside resort thanks to John Steinbeck who, during a visit here in 1953, wrote: “Positano bites deep. It is a dream place that isn’t quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone.”
You will walk this charming village through its characteristic alleys, spending your free time the way you like.
Furore
You will be in awe at the spectacular scenery at Furore, a deep gorge eroded by the water that opens to the sea 1.25 miles (2 kilometres) beyond Marina di Praiano. A short distance away s the Emerald Cave that can be reached by lift or by a short boat ride from Amalfi.
Amalfi
Stop for a visit at the old Maritime Republic of Amalfi with its narrow medieval streets lined with shops and its prized Norman Cathedral of Saint Andrew dating back to the IX century.
Free time for shopping and for lunch in one of the characteristic restaurants.
Sorrento and the Amalfi coast tour ends with a relaxing drive back to your accommodation.
