Positano Amalfi Pompeii Tour takes you along the panoramic Amalfi coastline and you’ll visit the most famous villages: Positano and Amalfi. The second part of the tour is dedicated to the Ancient Roman town of Pompeii.

Amalfi Coast

The Amalfi Coast is a beautiful mountainous 40 km (24 mi) long coastline. It has been considered Italy’s most romantic road and it starts just west of Positano. The Amalfi Coast is spectacular: 500 feet above the sea level, with sharp turns and narrow lanes, especially in the small towns. Along the road that leads to Positano, you’ll enjoy a stunning view of the tiny islands of Li Galli. The islets were once known as Syrenuse, as they were thought to be the home of the Sirens.

Positano

You’ll stop at the Belvedere of Madonnina where the sight of Positano from above will take your breath away. Once a small fishing village, Positano is now a chic seaside resort thanks to John Steinbeck who, during a visit here in 1953, wrote: “Positano bites deep. It is a dream place that isn’t quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone.”

In the centre you’ll be visiting the charming village walking through its characteristic alleys and spending your free time the way you like.

Furore

You’ll reach a spectacular scenery at Furore, a deep gorge eroded by the water that opens to the sea 1.25 miles (2 kilometres) beyond Marina di Praiano. At a short distance is the Emerald Cave that can be reached by lift or by a short boat ride from Amalfi. Stop for a visit at the old Maritime Republic of Amalfi with its narrow medieval streets lined with shops and its prized Norman Cathedral of Saint Andrew dating back to the IX century.

Pompeii

The tour continues with the visit of Pompeii:

Wiped out during the eruption of 79 AD, Pompeii is worldwide famous for its state of preservation. The excavation work have brought to light most of the buildings like the main square called Forum that is the core of the town. Surrounded by the temples of Apollo and that of Jupiter, civil and political buildings, this huge square hosts also a Market place where you’ll see the Plaster casts. This are the bodies of those who died asphyxiated in a long agony during the eruption of Mont Vesuvius. The roads of Pompeii with their stepping stones and the grooves of the wagons will capture your attention bringing you back to the Ancient times.

The Public Baths are a must to see for their fine decorations and for an in-depth knowledge of Public life and the concept of health in the Roman world.

During this tour you’ll be able to see also several private houses like the House of Vettii, two successful freedmen, that is exeptionally well preserved or the House of Menander foto, where you can hear the echoes of the daily life and you can feel the presence of the Pompeiians in everything they left.
